Rebel Princess takes place over five rounds, representing the five days of a party, and each round has a special rule that makes each game totally different. The general mechanisms are those of trick-taking games, in which each player plays a numbered card into each trick, following one of the four suits in the game. The player with the highest number of the suit that started the trick takes all the cards of that trick — but that’s not necessarily good as players want to avoid taking cards with prince charmings, who each bring one marriage proposal, aside from the enchanted frog who brings five proposals. The player with the fewest marriage proposals after five rounds wins.

Importantly, each player assumes the role of a different fairy tale princess and has a special ability that they can use once per round.

You begin the game with one discovery to search for. You must first find five pieces of “evidence” scattered throughout the ocean in order to make your discovery by traveling to specific zones and spaces on the map.

Players race to make their discovery first for bonus stars. In solo mode, you are racing against a timer in the game for the bonus.

In the game, Captain Nemo has set forth a challenge to his most prized crew members, you among them. Earn the most notoriety and you will inherit his great legacy! Each player takes command of their own bare-bones replica of the infamous Nautilus submarine, exploring a map filled with dangers and rewards. Each turn, you will flip over three cards, assigning one to determine your destination, one to give an order to your crew, and one to execute that order. Conduct science experiments. Engage in warfare. Embark on undersea adventures. Liberate the oppressed. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to build powerful upgrades to improve the efficiency and capabilities of your sub. Additionally, the game includes Nemo’s Challenge cards and character cards with unique starting resources and special items.

The game features a dual-purpose track: from one end you will track notoriety and from the other end you will track leagues traveled. When these two tracks converge, the end game is triggered.

For solo players, the game includes a dedicated solo mode with a win-loss condition called Farragut’s Pursuit, in which you will battle wits with a clever commander who is hunting you. You’ll need to adjust your strategy throughout the game to stay one step ahead of him.

Gameplay in Even Deeper Regrets is the same as in the base game with one major exception: you can now choose to start each day Inland in addition to Sea and Port! Inland, you can fish from three River shoals or one Loch shoal, both of which have a higher risk/reward ratio than the Sea. 74 new fish and 25 dinks await inland!

You can also fish an entirely new sea of fish, with 117 brand-spanking new fish to discover. Mix them together with the base game fish or play with just the expansion fish, it’s up to you!

New polyps introduce a new mechanic: every polyp is worth more for each other polyp in play.

New items and equipment are available including a new supply type: pets! Pets sit faithfully by your side and offer a persistent benefit – but they can still be lost at sea, so try not to get attached.

Aside from their passive abilities, each Divine Beast has 3 special Action cards. When a Divine Beast would activate during the Zombie phase, it draws from its deck of Action cards instead. Then it performs the legendary actions described on the card, heralding in waves of chaos across the board! Once a Divine Beast runs out of action cards in its deck, it vanishes from the board, signaling the spawn of the next Divine Beast.

Defeating a Divine beast grants the Survivor with a blessing of a Skill card.

At the start of the game, each player gets a secret number card that can have a value between 1 and 100. Remember, it’s a SECRET, so of course the other players can’t tell you directly what number they have, and neither can you!
