Once the Elder One is summoned, Godzilla shifts to his Territorial Behavior. Things escalate as investigators witness a Kaiju battle between Godzilla and the Elder One unfolding before them. Godzilla still acts every turn, but now he moves towards the Elder One to confront him. However, the Elder One doesn’t just take attacks passively; every time Godzilla acts, the Elder One strikes back, either physically or mentally, affecting Godzilla’s sanity. Godzilla doesn’t have a Health track; instead, each time the Elder One hits him, he becomes distressed. When the Distress track reaches its maximum, Godzilla gives up and retreats, causing the investigators to lose the game. Therefore, when Godzilla begins fighting the Elder One, investigators must assist him because if Godzilla retreats before all stages of the Elder One are defeated, they lose.

Every mission will offer a different approach – either sneak in or go in guns blazing. Both systems are integrated seamlessly into a highly tactical experience. But you always have to remember that Zone is full of surprises – toxic radioactive rain, upcoming emissions, anomalies, or bands of mutants roaming around can cross your plans.

Aside from their passive abilities, each Divine Beast has 3 special Action cards. When a Divine Beast would activate during the Zombie phase, it draws from its deck of Action cards instead. Then it performs the legendary actions described on the card, heralding in waves of chaos across the board! Once a Divine Beast runs out of action cards in its deck, it vanishes from the board, signaling the spawn of the next Divine Beast.

Defeating a Divine beast grants the Survivor with a blessing of a Skill card.

Of course, against such horrific foes, death is a common occurrence, but worry not as death is no end for a Hunter. Those who fall in combat awaken in the Hunter’s Dream, ready to return fresh to the fight. Be warned, however, that upon awakening you might find previous foes and obstacles returned, Worse, time is not on your side as the Blood Moon rises ever higher into the sky, spreading its madness across Yharnam. You must press ever forward if you and your comrades hope to complete the Hunt before the city meets an unfortunate end.

As you set out onto the Hunt, always remember the old adage:

“We are born of the blood, made men by the blood, undone by the blood. Our eyes are yet to open… Fear the old blood.”
